ESG Africa is an environmental, social and governance (ESG) risk management consulting firm with offices in Dakar, Senegal, and London, UK. Our team provides deep expertise in environmental and social due diligence (ESDD) following national regulations and international standards such as the International Finance Corporation Performance Standards, the African Development Bank, the World Bank Group and the European Union.

ESG Africa also offers services in corporate governance including the governance of ESG by the Boards of Directors to increase their involvement and accountability in environmental and social matters. We have experience in fragile and conflict affected countries and are aware of local issues and contextual risks that can either derail projects or make them successful.

ESG Africa was founded by Seynabou Ba who has over 25 years of experience in sustainable development, including 13 years at the International Finance Corporation (IFC) where she served as the ESG Manager for sub-Saharan Africa.

ESG Africa has a solid footprint of 30+ experts in over 26 countries in Africa which includes a strong Francophone team based in West Africa.

Our team consists of senior executives and a network of seasoned experts from international development finance institutions who bring a wealth of experience, a deep understanding of the specificities of African markets and a strong technical expertise in E&S policies, project finance, ESDD, ESMS implementation, ISO certifications support and governance.

Founder

Seynabou Ba is the founder of ESG Africa Ltd. She is an environmental and social risk management expert with over 25 years experience, 13 of which were at the IFC where she was the ESG Manager for Sub-Saharan Africa. Her passion is to build on-the-ground ESG capacity and support companies in Africa in reclaiming the ESG narrative through contributing to the sustainability of the continent.

Dr. Nicholas Flanders

Partner, ESG and Community Strategy Director

Nicholas Flanders is a retired IFC Principal Social and Environmental Specialist who worked globally but lived in West Africa and the MENA region. He combines a doctorate in anthropology with over 30 years of experience in understanding and acting upon the human dimensions of environmental issues.
He is the original lead author of IFC’s Performance Standard 8 Cultural Heritage.His strongest passion is passing on knowledge of society and the environment to future generations.

Eme Essien Lore

Senior Advisor, Organizational Health

Eme Essien Lore is an experienced development finance professional with a demonstrated history of effective team leadership resulting in measurable outcomes. She is a thought leader on impact investing and the role of organizational health in firm performance. With over 2 decades of experience in development finance, she now focuses on how organizations in Africa can enhance organizational health to underpin corporate governance as a key driver for stronger development finance outcomes.

Aminata Diagne

Partner, QHSE Expert | West AfricaManager

Aminata DIAGNE is a QHSE expert with 15years of experience in environmental management and occupational health and safety, specializing in the West Africa region. She holds certifications as anISO 14001 auditor, ISO 45001 lead implementer, and SSIAP 3 fire safety professional. Aminata has robust experience in EHS as well as HACCP assessments and due diligence, hazard risk assessment, ESIA, and ESMS development. She is passionate about promoting sustainable and safe practices across industries.

Paul Kabaale

ESHS Expert I East Africa Manager

Paul Kabaale is a highly experienced ESHS expert wit hover 18 years of expertise in the oil & gas and infrastructure sectors in East Africa. He specializes in E&S due diligence, risk management, and developing environmental and social management systems (ESMS), including one recognized with an industry award. Certified in ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS18001, and ISO 50001, Paul is dedicated to promoting safety and sustainability in complex, high-risk operations.
